MASTER’S DIPLOMA IN LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY

htmlrich_fichimagen.jpgThe Ultraviolet Photography School in Madrid has organised a Master’s Course in landscape Photography in cooperation with photographer and writer Fernando Puche.

The course seeks to offer a wide range of possibilities to enable each attendee to grow visually, especially with a view to enriching the way in which they look at their surroundings. The idea is to teach attendees how to see not so much one likely photo but rather a whole world of possible perceptions in each landscape. The course is divided into 9 blocks, each of which will be taught by a different specialist: Fernando Puche, Angélica Suela de la Llave, Mario Rubio, Ubaldo Moreno, Borja Delgado, Margarita González, Patxi Cobo, Eduardo Nave and myself. I will be teaching the last block, which deals with the creative process behind the pictures, from the birth of the idea to the materialisation of the image.

MONTPHOTO 2011: THE VERDICT

htmlrich_fichimagen.jpgBeing invited to sit on the jury at Montphoto is a great gift: it is a unique opportunity to learn, debate and enjoy oneself while looking at great pictures, but above all it is a chance to meet up with old friends. Time just flew in the company of Paco, Rául, Benito, Santi, Asier, Raimon, Laura, José Mª, Armando, Jep, Juan and the rest, and I finally managed to put faces to the names of photographers that I was really looking forward to meeting in person such as Helios, Urtzi, Juan, Pere and Albert. I also had the good fortune to meet Fernando, Klaus and Fransec, really exciting people from whom I hope I learned something. The deliberations were long and tough, but in the end Helios, Klaus and I reached an agreement on all the categories for which we were responsible. To see the winning photos and the runners up click on this link: pictures. My congratulations and warmest regards go out to the organisers.

VISIT TO FOTO-MONTSENY

htmlrich_fichimagen.jpgI couldn’t make it to the opening of Foto-Montseny but at least I got the chance to enjoy the exhibitions. In the first weekend in December I managed to get to Arbúcies, where I was welcomed by three top-class hosts: Cesc Noguera, Joaquim Mateu and Josep Guiolà. With them I visited the Museu Etnològic del Montseny, where the 5 exhibitions were set up. I thoroughly enjoyed the mastery of Oriol’s interpretation of light in landscapes, discovered the rich inner world the emanates from the dreamscapes of Josep Guiolà, marvelled at the force of nature as depicted by Vicenç Gimeno and took a mystery trip around Iceland with Pere Soler.

My warmest thanks to the organisers: the artichokes were to die for! I look forward to seeing you in Bilbao.

PORTFOLIO IN ISSUE 629 OF ARTE FOTOGRÁFICO

htmlrich_fichimagen.jpghtmlrich_fichimagen2.jpgThe magazine Arte Fotográfico was founded in 1952 to defend artistic values and the concept of authorship and to advocate the recognition of photographic works. Starting with issue 620 in September 2009, the magazine began to feature monographic issues. The latest issue, nº 629, is given over to landscape and includes a portfolio of mine on woodlands. It is an honour to be published alongside works by photographers that I admire greatly such as Joe Cornish, Clyde Butcher, Alejandro Martínez and the exquisite Asier Castro.

NEW BOOK: NATURA: REGARDS CRÉATIFS SUR LA NATURE

htmlrich_fichimagen.jpg

This magnificent book contains 175 colour photos by members of the prestigious Portfolio Natural photography group, to which I have the pleasure of belonging. It brings together some of the best pictures by group members in the course of many years of hard work, travelling and original projects.

Natura is not just another book of nature photographs: its pictures show a clear artistic vocation. They are indeed grouped into 13 chapters according to different creative criteria: Lighting, Paintings, Water, The Wild, Creations, Textures, Movements, Snow and Ice, Geometries, Plants, Abstracts, Horizons and Phenomena.

The book is to be presented at the Nature Festival in Montier-en-Der (France) with an exhibition of large-format photos on November 17-20."
